There are over 100 kalimba variations with their own tuning across the various African tribes, although in the west we tend to tune them to the standard piano scales that we are familiar with. If you are curious to learn more about the kalimba, you can read up on it here on Wikipedia, or in the books African Lamellophones by Gerhardt Kubrick, or The Soul of Mbira by Paul F. Berliner.
Tuning notes: These kalimbas are all tuned prior to shipping, but can easily go out of tune during shipping. To re-tune, you screw and un-screw the nuts and nudge the tines. If you have a good ear or are playing for fun, you may not need an electronic tuner — that part is up to you.
